Week commencing 10th May 2010
A bit of a disaster this week!
Picked up a chest infection and have felt groggy all week. Each day I have thought that tomorrow I will be fine! I started to worry on Friday that my chest wasn't clearing up and tried to book an appointment at my doctor's surgery, but to no avail. On Saturday afternoon I went to the NHS walk in centre in Norwich and was seen by a nurse who prescribed antibiotics.
So my week's exercise looked like this;
Nothing!
Part of me tells me not to worry as this has been an opportunity for my body to rest. My negative side tells me that I haven't exercised for 8 days and that I have missed at least 4 runs! Common sense tells me that if I recover fully by Sunday week then I should be fine with the 18-19 weeks training I have put in!
I weighed in this morning at 13 stone 2 lbs.
1 week to go and hopefully I can get 2-3 slow runs in to keep my legs ticking over. I also hope to get a leg and back massage in and maybe a couple of swims. Early nights, a good diet, eating slightly more carbs towards the end of next week and keeping hydrated.
I have my race plan to go over and my kit to pack. Thankfully I am travelling by train, because as I write this, Edinburgh airport is shut due to the ash cloud.
The best laid plans and all that...!!!!
Have a great and active week
Steve
